Clayburn Industries, which is what Sumas Clay Products
was formerly known as, was in operation in 1911. Ray Silver started working for the manufacturer when he was 12 years
old and has been with the factory since. Clayburn was taken over by Sumas First Nations in 1979 and owned and operated
by the first nations band. Ray Silver, a prominant business man, has been with this factory for almost 60 years and
has witnessed the changing times, and was with the company during the take over by the band.
Sumas Clay Products has had such prestigious clients as
McDonalds and 7-Eleven in the 1980's and the City of Abbotsford throughout their existence. Most of their clients are larger
enterprises that take pride in the appearance of the project.
The Operations Manager, Ray Silver, has been with the company for almost
60 years, and has the knowledge and experience in his heart. He has taken pride in his workmanship and is well known for his
creativity and customization of the products.
